Sound Tapestry: part of Derbyshire Makes Festival
Tuesday 15th, 12noon – 8pm
Tuesday 15th, 6:30pm Meet the maker talk
Wednesday 16th, 10am – 4pm
Join Clare Savory in the auditorium for a journey through the sounds of Glossop. During her Derbyshire Makes residency Clare has been sound-mapping Glossop, visiting launderettes, chip shops, rivers, bakeries and collecting from the general public. What results is an extraordinary yet very ordinary visualised sound tapestry, capturing the everyday sounds of the town to help its residents listen closer, to reconnect where they live – for health, wellbeing and oral history.
Perfect for the curious, those needing a calm space, quiet reflection.
Listen closer – reconnect with where you live.
Anyone unable to access Partington Theatre should go to the festival info desk to find the sound tapestry elsewhere, or visit YouTube and search ‘Longdendale Tales’ to watch and listen to the sound tapestry online.
