‘Ancient and Modern’ & ‘Last Bus To Whitby’

New to You Theatre presents..

‘Ancient and Modern’ & ‘Last Bus To Whitby’
Written and Directed by Martin Paul Roche

New To You Theatre bring these two very popular plays to Partington Theatre as part of their summer tour. Two stories, two characters, two lives, two journeys. Big Al is waiting to go on a journey he has waited a lifetime for on the last bus to Whitby. Stella is waiting to go on a journey to midnight mass and it feels like a lifetime since she rang ‘Speedy Cabs’ taxis to take her!

These one-act monologue plays explore those times we finally get around to listening to an important person in our lives. Someone whom we often neglect. Ourselves. Both stories explore in an innocent, gentle and bygone way, what we want from life and what happens when we muster the courage to go find it. Moreover, that the real humour in life only comes from having lived it. For clarity of mind can be found during the most surprising of life’s journeys. Be that on a bus to Whitby or a taxi ride to midnight mass.

What the audiences have said:

“Laugh out loud funny and very thought provoking.

Two excellent performances. Go and see it if you can. New plays on tour. Brilliant.”

“Absolutely brilliant. Both performances did justice to the writing! Great plays, very poignant in parts but ‘laugh out loud’ comedic in others.”

Featuring Rachel Harrison and Mark Rosenthal.

Be inspired by the story of Laura Annie Willson, suffragette activist.
