Plot Synopsis

Get ready to howl with laughter in this fantastical retelling of Red Riding Hood! Join Red and her fairytale friends as they journey to Granny Smith’s house—only to be chased not just by the Big Bad Wolf, but a Wicked Witch who’s after the enchanted Magic Star. If the Witch succeeds, happy endings will vanish and fairytales will fade forever!Packed with hilarious antics, toe-tapping tunes, dazzling costumes, and all the traditional panto magic, this is a heart warming adventure where friendship, fun, and a sprinkle of fairy dust just might save the day.

Central Role  – Needs to be confident, be able to sing and have a good stage presence.

Tom, The Comedian (Age:18+)

The driving force of the show, the main role, almost never off stage. Tom loves food and runs a food cart. Needs strong stage presence, good comedy timing, confident and likeable character. Lots of audience participation, singing & dancing.

Granny Smith, Red’s Grandmother (Age: 30 – 70+)

The Dame of the pantomime who receives a visit from Red Riding Hood and gets captured by The Wolf. Strong stage presence, good comedic timing, be able to move on stage – singing & slapstick scenes.

Harry, The Squire’s Son (Age:16+)

He believes the world revolves around him, the woodcutter who saves the day, but does he get his girl?

Goldilocks, Red’s Best Friend (Age:18+)

A strong role who is very confident but has been deeply scarred by the ‘porridge’ and the three bears incident. Following the incident Gold now cares for baby bear. Must be able to sing, dance and hold a good stage presence.

The Big Bad Wolf (Age:18+)

Suave, debonair, flamboyant, sly, foolish and always hungry! He gets persuaded by the witch to help with her evil plans, but does he have the courage to carry out the evil schemes?  Confident stage presence, articulate and charming.

Grizelda, The Wicked Witch (Age 18+)

From the depths of the forest the witch is out to steal the magic star that allows all fairytales to have a happy ending. The witch is prepared to go to great lengths to ruin the lives of everyone. Strong stage presence, the main evil villain of the plot. Must be able to work an audience and have an evil cackle!

Fairy Fern, The Good Fairy (Age:16+)

Our storyteller and woodland sprite. Poetic and sparkly. Fern talks in rhyme and brings the audience along for the ride. Must be able to connect with the audience and create a magical performance.

Dick, An Inventor (Age 16+)

Tom’s friend. He’s out to help the fairytale inhabitants but at the cost of some crazy inventions. Lots of great scenes and goes on to invent something called a mobile phone? Some singing & dancing/movement.

Rose the Fortune Teller (Age:16+)

Leader of the Carnival Encampment. Red Riding Hood and her friends ask for Rose’s help to see if she can predict the future and help stop the evil witch and her plans. A strong and confident dancer for this role as well as good acting skills. Leads the encampment into the carnival and showcases the skills of the other performers.

Constable Clot (Age:20+)

The village policeman. A great comedy role, think PC Plod from Noddy and you’re halfway there. Constantly checking up on the fairy tale residents to see all is in order.

The Squire, Harry’s Father (Age:40+)

He’s not convinced his son will marry the right girl. He holds a grand party with the hopes that he can arrange his son’s marriage. He is the richest in the land and hopes his son will have a happy ending.

Doctor Comfort (Age:30+)

The doctor of the fairytale woods. Full of one liners, jokes and innuendos. Needs to be confident and enjoy audience participation

Nurse Joy (Age:30+)

Doctor Comfort is her number one and she’s out to help him in any scenario possible. Lots of slapstick and romantic opportunities with the doctor. Good confidence and connection with Doctor Comfort & the audience.

You must sign up to be able to attend the auditions so we can be safe with the number of attendees. Once sign up is full, it may reopen again if we can’t cast from the first round. We are very excited about this production and we look forward to seeing you at auditions very soon!
