If you are interested in directing a play, or our annual pantomime, next season or indeed the following season, then please REGISTER your interest by Monday 24TH November.
* Please note that to direct a play, you must be a member of Partington Theatre.
We aim to present a varied season of plays – a comedy or farce, pantomime, drama/murder mystery, period, contemporary, etc., and therefore this will have a bearing on the plays chosen for the season.
Most plays we present are published plays, however, we occasionally present plays/pantomimes written by our own actors or by local people within the community.
Please ensure that if you select a published play to direct that the performing licence is available for amateurs to perform prior to submitting the play.
N.B, To find out, you will need to contact the publisher directly, because not all plays are available even though it states on a website that it may be available for amateur licence.
* When choosing a play, please consider the limitations of our intimate stage.
Directing a play is a challenging experience. Directors need to have an awareness of all aspects of staging and be able to manage a large team of people.
If you have never directed a play before it is advisable that you shadow a director to gain knowledge and experience. Contact the Theatre if you wish to shadow a Director and learn what is required.
Partington Theatre can assist further and for first-time directors, you will be supported by an experienced director, who alongside the production department leads, can guide you in any areas you may be less sure about.
Once the plays have been submitted (before the Monday 24th November DEADLINE), all submissions will be read by a selected panel, who will discuss the plays and decide upon the final 6 plays for the season.
Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Jose Warhurst, Partington Players’ Secretary via email at jose@partingtontheatre.org.uk.
Do you wish to become an effective part of our vibrant and hard-working Theatre?
If so, we would love to hear from you!
